It's October, and it's Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Why it matters.

It's October, and it's Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Why it matters.

Claudia Orecchioni

This October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Last June, Verizon published its 2022 Data Breach Investigation Report. According to the report, 4751 attacks exploiting developer vulnerabilities were reported last year, 1273 of which resulted in confirmed data breaches.

Earlier last month, the SANS Institute published Think Like a Hacker, a research surveying over 300 ethical hackers. The results were quite spooky: 57% of hackers said they could complete an end-to-end attack in less than a day and break into most environments they test.

The alarming state of Salesforce custom developments

Salesforce forms the digital backbone of an ever-growing number of companies, handling what's arguably their most valuable data. Yet, 77% of customers have OWASP TOP10-grade vulnerabilities in their production Orgs' custom code.

Security is notoriously tricky for developers and is easily overlooked, especially when working under the constant pressure of shipping features.

Nevertheless, it matters. Cybersecurity Awareness Month reminds everyone that there are many ways to protect your data, and being proactive about it can make a huge difference.
